CIT: Photo editing Application
About: Cit is a web based photo editor with over 50+ presets which will get updated daily based on the trends plus will have presets made by the user at your hands which make infinite possibilities with basic editing features and advanced tools to make your photos twice ? no thrice? No infinitely better.
How will CIT work from a user perspective? First image will be exported by the user on the web page(if on desktop)
or application(if on mobile) ,depending on the user , then the user can edit properties like exposure, saturation, highlights, Shadows, warmth, ambiance, contrast and other basic elements of the images.
Then preferred presets can be applied or chosen from the libraries of presets uploaded by the user or CIT team.
If Happy with edit, users can export to save the edit as a new file. And edits done on that image could be copied or even saved as a new preset.
Market Demand:
First of all photography is very big and every third human being clicks photograph on whatever device they have , if photos are being click then there will also be place for editing application for so many photographs and some
There are many photo editors but most good ones are paid or filled with apps but CIT will find its place as presets will be present there based on trends so people don’t have to be dependent on multiple or other applications to get that trendy edit or look in their photo .
And people with not so powerful computers and tight budgets would be looking for a good web based photo editor which can edit their picture and preset to make it better.
Relevant Products in the market:
There are photo editors with presets but most of the good ones are only available when purchased so not free.
#Snapseed: Photo editor available for Android and IOS devices which is free has basic editor tools but very confusing to use and not well made presets for a someone new coming to editing can find it very confusing as ui is complex and not very simple for beginners.
#Adobe lightroom: it’s a known application in the field of photography but paid application and being an application has some recommended requirements which is not everyone’s devices and being paid subscription based , people with tight budget can’t afford to use it.
And other many applications are there as photography is a big field but none application is free web based and application which has all the presets which are in trends or all the tools required in editing for free and if present free that’s filled with advertisements which makes it frustrating \ annoying to use from a user perspective.
Target Market:
Our target will be youth who are very easily influenced by things at social media ,and any photography enthusiast will be our target . as they will be looking for an application or website that will help to get that edit that they saw on someone else feed and now wants the same. Plus thanks to CIT preset editing will be very easy and very less time taking for them.
We will be targeting almost everyone who is into photography or clicks photographs, even casually clicking photographs and looking for a free editor which will be as simple as unlocking their phone .
Required Knowledge or Expertise:
1.Research will be required to make the photo editor which is able to do the following part editing: exposure, saturation, highlights, Shadows, warmth, ambiance, contrast and other features to make photograph better and pleasing looking .
2.Knowledge to code the following application to the editor: HSL(hue, Saturation, lightness) for basic colours, curves,Raw image extension editing, healing brush, ,double exposure and preset applier.
3.Knowledge to create User friendly interface with minimalist design to make editing fun and easy for user
4.Server management for saving presets and handling presets uploaded by the users and a switch to weather make presets public or private to give choice to the user to make its preset visible to or to himself/herself.
5.Knowledge to make AI(Artificial Intelligence) that will suggest preset that will make image better and also even to make changes automatically such as changing exposure, saturation, highlights, Shadows, warmth, ambiance, contrast and other features if auto edit mode chosen by the user.
Hardware Required: for coding a good and powerful machine would be required and a server to handle the presets uploaded by the user and CIT team.
C#(C sharp) or Java can be used to make CIT, i don’t have much knowledge on programming language but on my research and queries many suggested Java or C# as they will be efficient and will be easier to code applications and web pages then compared to other languages.
CIT can be launched as website(for desktop) and mobile application supporting Android and iOS(both major mobile operating software covering over >90% mobile user market)
Solution:
Solution we are making by launching CIT is making a cross platform free image editor with a rich library of presets from both users and the CIT team itself taken from trendy image edits. Problem usually is that I or any other photography enthusiast is finding an application that has all the right tools for editing and cross platform for free.
Estimated Budget:
The budget of CIT will be not very expensive but at the same time not very cheap also so
We can say it will be mid budget. Let’s say more than 50% of the budget will be spent on the team itself.
25% on marketing and promotion. And what we are left with can be used on servers and other basic requirements for a successful and healthy launch of CIT.
With first investments research will be focused for the development of application and after research development of application will take place and according to development launched will be further planned.
Marketing Plans:
Before launch:
Surveys and research can be done to find where there is a higher probability of launching our application and website to get better engagement
For creating hype for the application, promotion posts can be done by social media influencers and posts can be made on CIT social media accounts . Promotion video on YouTube .
After launch:
After launch tutorial video can be famous content creator related to photography field
released showing how easy and fun it is to use CIT so that people try it.
And presets with big name backing it can be launched on CIT to attract as many users
Editing competition could also be held with some lucrative prizes to the winners.
Product Pricing: CIT will be free to use, for monetization we will be dependent on ads which we will appear once a photo is uploaded to the editor to edit and once when edited photograph is exported.
But if there will be continuous loss we can add subscription based models to monetize the application or even one time payment which can give users some premium advantages such as more presets or tutorials even to attract users to subscribe or make in app payment to get advertisement less experience and these features.
Risk Analysis: being a start up, risk is there but risk are more big as photo editing software
Field is already crowded but as we know, the bigger the risk, the bigger the rewards will be there.
The main risk we are taking is that using quite a sum of money for creation of this application ,server handling and promotion but after creation we can also sell this application for profit as there will be many companies interested in this project so that situation can also be out win.
But as stated in product pricing we can see our application situation if we saw continuous loss we can switch to some subscription or one time payment feature to introduce advertisement less experience and even some premium presets.
Milestone & timeline :
Our first Milestone will be creating an active community such that there are endless presets as presets will be uploaded by the CIT team but users presets will be getting uploaded daily if the active user community is built.
Second Milestone we are setting is a successful global launch First our application will be launched in selected countries such that our servers don’t get over crowded as soon as the website and application is launched. If we saw apps doing good in its soft launch in selected countries then we could go with Global launch.
